Bishop Caldwell College was established by Bishop Caldwell in 1883. Again it begins to function in 1996 under the able guidance of Rt.Rev. (Late) Jason S.Dharmaraj, former Bishop of Tirunelveli Diocese, along with some well-wishers. It was recognized by Government of Tamil Nadu and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.
75th Indian Independence celebration events was orgainzed by NSS of Bishop Caldwell College, Thoothukudi. A guest speaker Mrs.M.Negeshwari Asst.Prof. of History delivered their talk in the topic India s Freed Struggle.
